The Confused Quest
Psychotropic medication, sessions with psychotherapists, yoga retreats, self help books, mindfulness and meditation workshops…it is all very big business - it is also very symptomatic.
What are we searching for in this Confused Quest that is so random and undirected… ”Try this, no try that.” “Go here, no go there.” “This anecdote, no that anecdote.” “Try this type of therapy, no try that type of therapy.” “This person has the answer, no that person has the answer.”
Answer to what? What is the question? What are the minions milling around in circles trying to find? What is the Human Psyche searching for in this Confused Quest?
Missing the Mark
Many sources…many sources…would suggest that the Human Psyche is seeking healing.
Here are two words that drive the psychotherapeutic community - Healing & Recovery. It would be challenging to find any psychotherapeutic service that does not use one or both of those words in, around, and for, their business model.
How is it, that it might be possible, that these two words somehow miss the mark?
If your perspective is bound to “the process of healing” or “the process of recovery,” the question becomes; are you not then always focused on the past?
Just ponder that for a moment. What are the implications of a focus cemented in the past. Are you always not trying to move away from something? (Something that happened in the past) Are you not trying to distance yourself from something? (Something that happened in the past) Healing from what? (Something that happened in the past) Recovering from what? (Something that happened in the past) What are the ramifications of walking backwards? What happens when your focus is always that something?
If the point of focus is that something - are we not at risk of that something becoming our issue, our stumbling block…our identity? Are we not at risk of our past becoming our present and our future? Are we now “a person in Recovery?” Are we now “a person healing from trauma?” Is that who we are today - and tomorrow?
The Restore Point
When our computer is corrupted by too much, or bad, software downloads/uploads, we have an option to Restore it to an earlier time - we can choose a Restore Point.
What are the milling minions looking for? They are looking for a Restore Point. Restoration to a time before the addiction, a time before the trauma, a point before the corruption of their 90 percent.
Why are giggling babies, puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats so massively popular on social media? They represent the desperately sought Restore Point.
A time when pure joy and pure love were so easily accessed and readily available. A time before Judgement and Worth became concepts that shaped our Self. A time when we were our true Authentic Self.
Our true Authentic Self is The Restore Point.
